The Turtle is honored in Chinese Medicine and is revered as a spiritual creature, specifically with longevity due to its calm & peaceful nature. Living with the Tao is important to longevity as this is the Tai Yin (Big Yin) season. Reminding us to move slower, the Turtle'

 

Just Breathe

 

Inhale and exhale take more than just an ‘in & out’ approach. When you tune into your breathing rhythm, many tend to breathe high and fast. Learn to slow the breathing down with Tortoise breathing counts and explore other options (box breathing, silk breathing, etc.)

Interoception allows you to literally come inward and FEEL how you are functioning. What do my insides feel like? Can I feel the beating of my heart? Where do I move when I inhale/exhale?

Shake those bones

  • Band the ribs

  • Breathe into a paper bag

  • Set out reminders for tortoise breathing (by the coffee pot, by the night stand, when you park your car, etc.)
